Deveco Triblack Builder 200

Deveco Triblack Builder 200 is specifically designed to be used over top of Deveco Triblack 200 MU or Deveco Triblack 200 MUBG trivalent chromates to enhance appearance and greatly extend corrosion resistance.  

Sealing trivalent black finishes with Deveco Triblack Builder 200 produces a finish that will exceed 168 hours to white corrosion and over 400 hrs to red corrosion in salt spray testing.

Deveco Triblack Builder 200 is an extremely stable and easy to use product.

OPERATING PARAMETERS:

Deveco Triblack Builder 200 Temperature Time

10 to 25% v/v – Use DI or RO water for make-up & replenishment 70 – 120 ^oF (optimum 100 ^oF) 20 seconds to 2 minutes

Deveco Triblack Builder 200 may be applied by rack or dip spin processes. Some tests of varying concentration may be needed to determine best concentration to maintain Deveco Triblack Builder 200 for certain part types or configurations.

Parts should be thoroughly rinsed after the trivalent chromate operation, prior to applying the Deveco Triblack Builder 200. Parts should be dried after the Deveco Triblack Builder 200 application. Care should be taken to not exceed 150° F when drying the parts to avoid film dehydration

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

TANK -Polypropylene or koroseal lined tanks.

HEATER - in-tank PTFE heater capable of maintaining 100° F. if needed

REPLENISHMENT

Deveco Triblack Builder 200 is consumed by application, drag out, and evaporation. Replenishment additions should be made based on the attached analytical method. The proper additions of Deveco Triblack Builder 200 and water should be made to maintain proper concentrations.

CONTROL AND ANALYSIS

• Pipette 2 mls of sample into a 250 ml flask
• Add about 50 mls DI water
• Add 2 to 3 grams Ammonium Persulfate (NH₄)₂S₂O₈
• (Also known as Ammonium Peroxydisulfate)
• Heat to boiling for 1 hour, adding DI water as needed

• Remove from heat and allow to cool to near room temp.
• Add about 2 grams Ammonium Bifluoride (NH₄HF₂ )
• Add about 30 mls of 50% Hydrochloric acid
• Add about 10 mls of 10% KI Potassium Iodide

• Titrate with 0.1 N Sodium Thiosulfate until solution begins to lighten
• Add about 5 mls Starch Indicator solution
• Continue to Titrate with 0.1 N Sodium Thiosulfate – end pt: blue à clear

            Mls 0.1 N Sodium Thiosulfate x 0.91 = % Concentration Deveco Triblack Builder 200

*Note- Atomic Absorption (AA) may be used as an alternative method to check concentration. Contact Deveco Corp. for further information.
