Dev-Kleen N-2

Dev-Kleen N-2 is a low-temperature, heavy duty, liquid, neutral cleaner designed to remove many types of soils from various metals.  Dev-Kleen N-2 will typically remove cutting oils, drawing and stamping compounds, coolant residues, greases, smuts, dirt, and metal fines. 

The particular wetting agents used in Dev-Kleen N-2 provide fast wetting and for rapid loosening/dispersing of dirts and oils from steel, copper, brass, aluminum and zinc die casts.

Dev-Kleen N-2 has the following advantages:

MAKE UP:

Dev-Kleen N-2                                                 3 to 8% Soak or spray cleaning

Dev-Kleen EA (Emulsifying Addtv)                       0.3 to 0.8%       (soak - when increased foam isn’t a problem)

           or

Dev-Kleen SA (Splitting Addtv)                            0.3 to 0.8%       (soak - when increased foam isn’t a problem)

Temperature:                                                     80 to 150 ^oF         90 to 100 ^oF (optimum)

Time:                                                                3 to 6 minutes     soak cleaning

                                                                        1 to 3 minutes     spray cleaning

For soak cleaning applications, the concentration may need to be increased if agitation is low or cleaning loads are heavy.  For heavier greases, the temperature may need to be increased to 130 – 150 ^oF.

ANALYSIS: 

Ø Take a 100 ml sample of the operating solution.

Ø Transfer this solution to a 200 ml beaker and place it on a magnetic stirrer.

Ø While stirring, immerse the electrode of the pH meter carefully, into the sample, record the pH, then titrate with 1.0 N HCl to a pH of 5.5. Titrate drop-wise when approaching 5.5 so as not to go over.

Calculation:     % Dev-Kleen N-2 = 1.3 x mls of 1.0N HCl

TEST KIT PROCEDURE

Ø Take a 10ml sample using syringe included in kit.

Ø Discharge contents into clear bottle.

Ø Add 3-4 drops methyl orange indicator.

Ø Add 1.0 N HCl drop-wise (counting each drop) until solution changes from orange to red.

Ø Refer to table below for concentration.
