DEVECO 223
Deveco 223 is economical, alkaline soak cleaner containing rosin soap, designed to remove solid dirts, soils, oils, buffing compounds and greases from ferrous metal surfaces. It is a free-flowing, non-dusting, tan, alkaline powder.
Deveco 223 has been formulated to completely remove and emulsify oil and grease contaminants so they remain held in solution.
EQUIPMENT: Tanks and heating coils constructed of steel are satisfactory.
OPERATING CONDITIONS:
Deveco 223: 4 to 8 oz/gal
Temperature: 160 to 200o F.
Time: 3 to 10 minutes

MAINTENANCE AND CONTROL:
Analysis:
Pipette 10 mls of Deveco 223 solution into a 250 ml beaker.
Add 50 mls of water.
Add 3 to 4 drops of Methyl Orange Indicator.
Titrate with 1.0 N Hydrochloric Acid to a red end-point.
Record the number of mls used.
Calculations: Mls 1.0 N HCl x 1.28 = oz/gal Deveco 223
WARNING: This product is extremely caustic. Gloves and goggles should always be used when handling this product. In case of contact with skin or eyes, flush immediately with cold water and call physician.
