DEV-KLEEN 252

 

Dev-Kleen 252 is a heavy-duty, all-purpose, liquid alkaline cleaner designed to remove stubborn soils from ferrous metals in both soak and electrocleaning operations.  As a strong alkaline cleaner, Dev-Kleen 252 will typically remove cutting oils, drawing and stamping compounds, coolant residues, buffing compounds, dirt and metal fines. Dev-Kleen 252 is low foaming and therefore can be used in both rack and barrel operations.

DEV-KLEEN 252 AS A SOAK CLEANER:

 

¨       Dev-Kleen 252                                              2 – 5%

o        Dev-Kleen EAHD (to emulsify)         0.2 - 0.5%

§         or

o        Dev-Kleen SA (to split)                     0 .2 - 0.5%

¨       Temperature                                                   180 - 200°F

¨       Time                                                                3 - 6 minutes

 

DEV-KLEEN 252 AS AN ELECTROCLEANER:

 

¨       Dev-Kleen 252                                              6 – 10%

¨       Temperature                                                   150 - 180°F

¨       Time                                                                3 - 6 minutes

 

Titration Analysis Method:

 

¨       Take a 10 ml sample of the solution.

¨       Add about 50 – 100 mls of water

¨       Add 3 or 4 drops of Phenolphthalein indicator to the sample.

¨       Titrate with 1.0 N Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) until the solution turns clear.

 

Calculation:  mls. 1.0 N HCl  x 1.3 = %Dev-Kleen 252

Test Kit Analysis Method:

 

¨       Use the syringe to transfer 2 mls of the sample to the clear glass bottle.

¨       Add about 10 mls of water and 1 or 2 drops of phenolphthalein indicator to the sample.

¨       While “swirling” the solution, add 1.0 N Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) dropwise until the solution turns clear.  Make note of the number of drops used.

 

Calculation:  # of drops 1.0 N HCl x 0,.25 = % Dev-Kleen 252

 

CAUTION:

 

This product is extremely caustic in nature.  Contact of the solution with skin or eyes should be avoided.  In case of contact, flush contaminated area with a large amount of water.  When handling this product, protective clothing, i.e. rubber apron, gloves, boots, and goggles should be worn.
