Dev-Kleen 298 is a unique, concentrated liquid alkaline blend specifically developed to remove all types of soils from copper, copper alloys, zinc die-castings, and steel.  The specific wetting agents selected for

Dev-Kleen 298 provide fast wetting and contribute to the dispersion and loosening of dirt and oils.  It is designed for immersion and reel-to-reel operations.

AS A SOAK CLEANER

Dev-Kleen 298                                                   1.0 – 4.0%*

            Dev-Kleen EAHD (to emulsify)                             0.1 – 0.4%

                                    or

            Dev-Kleen SA (to split oils)                                 0.1 – 0.4%

            Temperature                                                      140 -180^oF

            Time                                                                 1 – 6 min.

AS AN ELECTROCLEANER (Cathodic or Anodic)

Dev-Kleen 298                                                  4.0 – 8.0%*

            Temperature                                                      150 - 180^oF

            Time                                                                 1 – 6 min.

*The concentration needed will depend on the type of material being cleaned. The recommended concentration for zinc and zinc die-cast is at the low end of the range, copper and copper alloys are in the middle of the range, and steel is at the high end of the concentration range.

OPERATING BATH ANALYSIS

CAUTION:         The following procedures involve the use of potentially hazardous chemicals.  Manufacturer’s operating instructions should be consulted and the appropriate safety cautions followed.

Procedure

1. Take a 100 ml sample
2. Add 10 drops of phenolphthalein indicator
3. Titrate with 1.0N hydrochloric acid from a pink to clear end point

Calculation:     (mls 1.0 N HCI) x (0.125) = % Dev-Kleen 298
