Dev-Seal Poly-Armor 1

Dev-Seal Poly-Armor 1 is a liquid concentrated sealer incorporating polymer resins and nano-particles for superior corrosion protection on zinc-plated parts. It was developed specifically to be used in conjunction with Deveco Fusion Black and Tri-Black coatings to produce glossy black coating. It is diluted with water and applied by dip coating and drying.

A 50% Dev-Seal Poly-Armor 1 solution will extend salt spray resistance at least 168 - 200 hours to white rust when testing per ASTM B-117 neutral salt spray test. (Evaluate the test parts while wet to distinguish zinc’s white corrosion product from a whitish blush which may be present from the sealer).

OPERATING PARAMETERS

Parts to be sealed with Dev-Seal Poly-Armor 1 are to be rinsed thoroughly prior to dipping.

Drying of the Deveco Fusion or Tri-Black coating prior to dipping in Dev-Seal Poly-Armor 1 will maximize the corrosion protection of the finish.  (Over-drying may reduce adhesion of the seal).

Part temperature during drying should not exceed 160 ^oF. Over-drying may dehydrate the seal, reducing adhesion and corrosion resistance

ANALYSIS::      using Atago Pocket PAL-1 Hand-held Digital Refractometer

1. Make sure the refractometer is lying on a flat surface when taking measurements.

2. Zero the refractometer each day before use.  Place 3 drops (0.3 mls) of room temperature distilled or tap water on the prism surface.  Press start.  If the measurement is not zero, press the “zero” key.  Wipe the water off the prism with a lint-free tissue.

3. Place 3 drops (0.3 mls) of Poly-Armor 1 solution (at bath operating temperature) on the prism.  Press “Start” key.  The measurement value will be displayed after the arrow blinks 3 times.  Remove the sample. Rinse with water and wipe the prism with a lint-free tissue.

4. The measurement value multiplied by 4.4 = % Dev-seal Poly-Armor 1.
